Yes it is sad to see Merlin grow up and go through so many bad things that harden his heart, but I find it is also really enjoyable to watch his character develop in good and fun ways. Which I think is great for his character. Getting stuff done is more important to him then being perfectly polite. If you wanna see an example of what I mean, watch s4e7 when he sees Gwaine in his chambers. He’s more straight to the point with people and he takes less bulls*** from them. But I’m not saying this is a bad thing! He’s just less focused on pleasing people and more on his own goals.

He will make a lot of witty comments, more so than the previous seasons.Ĥ)He’s a little less nice. He pulls little magic tricks just because he feels like it.
